“A teacher can come and beat you, it’s normal just because you made a mistake, he can just beat you … But sometimes he can just beat you in a harsh way and that can be even so bad, to the point where there can be peace broken between him and your family, even yourself as a student, you can give up going to school because you hate that teacher.”

TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMS

We offer teacher training in conjunction with our education programs, or as stand alone sessions, according to the needs of your organisation.

Our topics have been developed based on input from local teachers working in developing countries and typically having 1 - 2 years training, post high school. This list of topics has been thoroughly tested, and is always growing, as we visit more schools and seek to meet the teachers' areas of need and interest.

Teacher training topics for development contexts currently include:

  • Differentiating the curriculum across a diverse classroom (particularly focused on the large classroom of 50 children or more, with broad age and ability ranges)
  • Creating an effective learning environment (focused on holistic discipline, improved classroom management and alternatives to corporal punishment )
  • Flourish where you are (focused on child centred teaching and maximising the resources of the school: materially, geographically and in terms of personnel, for example collaborating with community leaders)

We are developing new teacher training topics. Please CONTACT US, if you'd like to see a complete list, or suggest a topic!
